Update Coffee Market Price Today on April 6th, 2023
UPDATE COFFEE MARKET PRICE TODAY on April 6th, 2023Ending the latest trading session, the price of Robusta coffee in London delivered in May 2023 increased by 60 USD/ton at 2,314 USD/ton, delivered in July 2023 increased by 55 USD/ton at 2,274 USD/ton.Meanwhile on the New York Stock Exchange, the price of Arabica coffee delivered in May 2023 increased by 5.3 cents/lb, at 180.15 cents/lb, delivered in July 2023 increased by 5.05 cents/lb, at 179 cents/lb.Arabica coffee prices reversed to recover, while Robusta still maintained its upward momentum. Coffee on the London floor has the third consecutive increase since the beginning of the week.
Experts said that the increase in coffee after yesterday's session was partly due to the latest report of the World Coffee Organization (ICO). Accordingly, the ICO said that in the first 5 months of the coffee year, global coffee exports decreased by 8.6%, reaching 48.66 million bags.
The Indonesian Association of Exporters and Industries expects output in the coffee year 2023/2024, which has already started harvesting, to drop by up to 20 percent from the previous crop to 9.6 million bags due to excessive rain much. Indonesia is the world's third largest producer of Robusta coffee.
The USD is still weak while the Real recovers to help Arabica regain its upward momentum. In the early morning of April 6, the US Dollar Index (DXY) measuring the volatility of the greenback with 6 major currencies (EUR, JPY, GBP, CAD, SEK, CHF) increased by 0.30%, reaching the 101.88.
