Coffee prices today, May 29: Coffee prices end the record increase?

Today, Monday, May 29 (the last Monday of May), both London (UK) and New York (USA) exchanges are closed for trading (London exchange is closed for Spring Bank Holiday). (Spring Bank), New York Stock Exchange is closed for Memorial Day.

Robusta coffee prices on the London floor in the latest trading session from 2,421 to 2,574 USD/ton, depending on the delivery term. In which, the highest is coffee delivered in July 2023 with the price of 2,574 USD/ton; Coffee delivered in September 2023 matched the price of $2,528/ton, delivery in November 2023 was $2,469/ton and delivery in January 2024 was $2,421/ton.

The price of Arabica coffee on the New York Stock Exchange in the latest trading session ranged from 177.5 to 181.6 cents/lb. In which, coffee delivery term in July 2023 reached 181.6 cents/lb, coffee delivery in September 2023 reached 179.55 cents/lb, December coffee delivery reached 177.65 cents/lb and Coffee delivery in March 2024 reached 177.5 cents/lb.

Recording trading volume on both exchanges shows that coffee delivery terms in July 2023 and September 2023 are very strong. This is understandable given the concern of short-term supply shortage in 2023.

According to experts, the price of coffee after a "hot rise" will end the record increase. Besides, inflation in many major countries in the world tends to increase faster than forecast, which will be a "pull" factor for commodity transactions.

However, in the short term, due to a supply shortage, the price of Robusta coffee will still maintain a high price.
