UPDATE COFFEE MARKET PRICE TODAY on April 15th, 2023Ending the session yesterday, the price of Robusta coffee in London delivered in May 2023 increased by 35 USD/ton at 2,444 USD/ton, delivered in July 2023 increased by 50 USD/ton at 2,382 USD/ton.
Meanwhile on the New York Stock Exchange, the price of Arabica coffee delivered in May 2023 increased by 5.85 cents/lb, at 196.1 cents/lb, delivered in July 2023 increased by 5.9 cents/lb, at 194 ,4 cents/lb.
Ending the last session, Robusta reached its highest level since the beginning of the year, while Arabica reached a 7-week high.
Experts said that the weakening of the dollar and the rise of the Brazilian real helped the coffee market to recover strongly.
At dawn on April 14, on the US market, the US Dollar Index (DXY) which measures the volatility of the greenback with 6 major currencies (EUR, JPY, GBP, CAD, SEK, CHF) decreased by 0.49 %, down to 101.01.
The dollar hit a two-month low in the last session, after US producer prices unexpectedly fell in March, boosting expectations that the US Federal Reserve (Fed) is nearing the end of its rate-raising cycle.
Inventories that meet the standards of the ICE London floor continue to decrease to 74,050 tons, as of April 12. Standard inventories of the ICE New York floor recorded a decrease of 720,992 bags, the lowest level in 4 months, as of April 13. The above information has supported the price of coffee to increase.
Besides, Colombia's coffee export data in March 2023 decreased by 19%, which stimulated Arabica to increase sharply.
